What is the difference between do the Salkantay by cay or train.
The first 4 days are the same in both cases the difference would be on the 5th day.
On the 5th day Machu Picchu is visited normally between 6am and 10am. Then the tourists who booked the Salkantay Trek by train will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take the train from Aguas calientes town to Ollantyatambo, in ollantaytambo our tranfer wait fou you to take you back by bus to cusco .
On the other hand, those who booked the Salkantay trek by car, must return walking from Machupicchu to the town of Hidroelectrica,(2:30 minutes walking), they must be at the hydroelectrica town at 14:00 p.m. because the bus normaly leave at 14:30 from hidroelectrica town to Cusco., this bus take approximately 7 hours to arrive to Cusco at 9:40 p.m.
